Moderate Traumatic Brain Injury
Occurs when the injury results in a loss of consciousness of 30 minutes to 24 hours, an initial Glasgow Coma Scale of 9-12. Post-traumatic amnesia can last 24 hours to seven days.
- There are usually abnormal CT or MRI findings.
- Confusion may last a few days to weeks.
- Physical, cognitive, and/or behavioral impairments could last for months or be permanent.
- Symptoms may be similar to a mild TBI, but the symptoms do not go away and may even get worse.
